When your heart is full of joy, you know you're on the right track. During your stay at our hotel for hikers in the Val Venosta, you can go on some wonderful excursions to explore the local area. In spring and autumn, we recommend the paths along the irrigation channels on Mount Sole, where hikers can enjoy the fact that there's no snow from March to November!

On the other hand, in summer, it's better to head to higher altitudes, including the area around Mount Tramontana, with its cool slopes covered by shady forests.

To the top, on the chairlift

Give your car a holiday too: the chairlift will take you straight to the heart of a real natural paradise for hikers! With amazing scenic views, landscapes of great contrasts and natural beauty as far as the eye can see: the trail network covers an area up to a height of 3,905 metres. There's something for everyone here! You can enjoy a wonderful feeling of freedom.

The San Martino in Monte cable car takes you straight up onto Monte Sole and to the mountain village of the same name, situated at a height of about 1,740 metres. This is the starting point for various scenic circuits and hikes, high-altitude excursions and wonderful cycling trails.
The Malga Tarres chairlift takes you up to the alpine pastures of Tarres and Laces on Mount Tramontana: a popular hiking area at a height of about 2,000 metres. You can enjoy the idyllic natural surrounding with a walk through the pastures, a trip to Lake Tarres, or a hike on the Gran Ladro.

Farm

For a true mountain adventure: our mountain farm in the Val Martello
Built some 400 years ago, our mountain farm is right in the heart of the beautiful Stelvio National Park, surrounded by meadows with wild plants and flowers. Our Eberhöfl farmhouse has traditional stone walls and beams, stoves built of stone and original tiling. The farmhouse complex has been in our family for about 30 years, and is protected as a special cultural asset. We have carefully preserved it in its original state, maintaining its traditional appearance and special atmosphere for future generations. In summer and autumn, we offer weekly guided tours to our farm, with the opportunity for a pleasant break and the chance to cook together as a group!

guided hikes at various level of difficulty, with Charlotte Dietl and hiking guide Emanuela. All the Matillhof's guided hikes are free (although chair lift charges and entrance fees are not included). They take place regardless of the weather or the number of people in the group.
